91自拍 University’s biology department donated three microscopes to the Hamilton School at the Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center in Erie, Pa. These microscopes will be used to facilitate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) instruction at the school. The biology department also donated three microscopes in the fall of 2022.
The Hamilton School at Sarah Reed is a K-12 school that works with special needs students. Students at the school are from the Erie area with trauma backgrounds and/or other special needs.
Matthew Gacura, Ph.D, assistant professor of biology, has worked with the Hamilton School over the past three summers as a volunteer STEM instructor. “I typically will go in once a week and instruct them in some form of STEM experiment,” says Gacura. “For example, this past week I performed a DNA extraction with them on strawberries.”
